Small Outdoor Space? You Can Still Dream Big...

Encouraging families to get out in the garden and enabling them to enjoy and maintain their space is a key focus for the team here at Flymo. We were thrilled to be able to help do this recently as part of the latest series of primetime BBC show, Big Dreams, Small Spaces.

Helen Ginn got in touch to let us know that she and her family were going to be part of the show, creating an accessible, fun and sensory-packed garden for her two-year-old son Chip and his twin sister Hester. Chip has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and spends a lot of time in hospital, so the family wanted to create a safe outdoor environment for him to play in with his sister when he’s at home.
Funding the entire project themselves, Helen and her husband transformed a once neglected pile of builders’ rubble and tangled ivy in to a wonderful space for their family, including a brand new lawn. Never having had a grassy area to maintain before, Helen asked us for advice and if it would be possible for Flymo to donate a mower – we were of course happy to oblige, and sent the family a Flymo Chevron 34VC to ensure their new lawn was expertly maintained throughout the year.

Helen said: “We loved doing the show, it was exhausting and incredibly hard work - but well worth the effort. We are out in the garden every day - rain or shine. I have spent the last couple of months perfecting the striped lawn effect with our Flymo Chevron 34VC, it looks super smart - I love it, thank you so much for your support - bring on the summer!
